Pay: $115,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year

This role requires  active California Bar membership and  civil litigation defense experience (insurance defense strongly preferred).

Our client is a Riverside-based law firm with a broad litigation platform handling matters in state and federal courts, including ADR when appropriate. Their defense practice spans civil litigation and insurance-related disputes, supporting a wide range of institutional and business clients.

Job Description

• Handle civil litigation defense matters from intake through resolution
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and case strategy materials
• Take and defend depositions and manage written discovery
• Appear in court for hearings, CMCs, and motion practice
• Communicate directly with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
• Work closely with legal assistants/secretaries on filings, calendaring, and trial prep
• Support settlement efforts, mediation, and ADR as needed

Qualifications

• Active CA Bar (required)
• 2+ years of civil litigation experience, ideally on the defense side
• Comfortable managing deadlines, motion practice, and discovery independently
• Strong legal writing and analytical skills
• Courtroom experience (hearings, CMCs, motions) is a plus
• Professional, responsive communicator with a team-oriented mindset
